Travelling has a zing to it that not only refreshes our minds but makes us feel energized and elated too. If I could get a chance to take my family to anywhere on the planet, I will choose the Himalayan kingdom- BHUTAN.
All those of you who are not aware of this small little Himalayan kingdom, behold these beautiful pictures to feel the tranquility that the place evokes.
I had the pleasure of travelling to Bhutan six years back and the memories are still vividly etched in my heart. I intend to travel again to this kingdom because it entices me and the raw perfection of the place has forever trapped my heart.
Why Bhutan Mesmerizes Me?
Also known as the land of thunder dragon and even Druk Yul, it is a remote land that is significantly untouched. It sits right in the lap of the serene snow clad Himalayan Mountains and the gorgeous sky along with the sky kissing peaks makes Bhutan a treat for the eye.
It is a Buddhist nation that is still walking the roads of development. The natives of Bhutan are what set this nation apart from other Asian countries. Even when you are walking down the mountain slopes, the “stranger” natives will greet you with a “friendly” smile and offer peaceful blessings.
We still remember their signature Kozu Zangpo that means hello/good morning. All you need to be happy when you are travelling to Bhutan is the mesmerizing sight of the early sunrise. The beautiful sun will break through the tuft of clouds and the golden gleam falls on the snow clad peaks that shimmers and shines like gold. This is a sight that will capture your heart-F-O-R-E-V-E-R.
Adorable Wildlife In The Mountain Land
If you have a knack for animals as you love to gaze at wildlife, Bhutan is the place to be. From, the ferocious Royal Bengal Tiger to the rumped honey guide and even the Himalayan black bear; you can find it all in Bhutan. It is one of those nations where men and animals still live in harmony. It is not densely populated and so you can find wild animals fearlessly roaming in the rugged mountainous terrains of this Himalayan kingdom.
When in Bhutan, we visited Royal Manas National Park and even the Jigme Dorji National Park. I was stunned at the dazzling flora and fauna that grace this mountain land. The defining happy moment for us as a family was to spot a sighting of bright birds flocking together and dancing and hooting and shrieking and squealing with delight.
To see so many colors in the sky and the happy flock of wild birds made us all go into frenzy because the sight looked like a shot from movies where you witness the blinding aura of nature. It made us happy travelers.
Although, we were mesmerized by these parks, it was Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary that took our heart away. It covers an area of 1545 square kilometer and the beautiful abode of exotic plants and animals and the stunning valley made us go into a trance. We could feel our hearts connect with the place as we truly felt the charm of scintillating nature. It was standing in that valley amidst wild flowers and with sounds of wild animals in the background that made us realize that true happiness cannot be equated with a big fat pay check, true happiness means feeling one with the nature because nature is a part of who we are and who we will be.
This Himalayan kingdom is a symbol of peace, love and bliss. Every moment spent here was a moment of perfection. I had big plans of finding out activities and things that could make my parents happy. However, it was in Bhutan that I realized that happy travelers are those who allow their souls to be touched by the places they travel.
As a family, we felt our souls locked in the land. After ten days of a beautiful trip, we had to pack our bags to return. With teary eyes, we bade goodbye to the land that taught us the spirit of travelling. However, even at that instant, we knew, we will be back again to relive the beauty of the place. Bhutan is not just a country; it is an abode of love, bliss and peace. The place touches your soul. Thimpu the capital city is developing thick and fast but it surprisingly retains the same country feel- the touch of love, the power of winds, the rush of peace and the love of natives.
We were a group of happy travelers because every single moment spent at the place was a moment that we relived countless times as we took back home lots of love in our hearts…
Residing in the plain land at Kolkata, I often relive my ten days in Bhutan because the tranquility and the peaceful valleys made us wonder at the gift of God– Nature is mighty and it is beautiful. It washes your pain and heals the soul.
Following are pictures of the big attraction points of this kingdom. No matter, which country you reside in, which continent you live in- if you travel, make sure to once head to this land. Bhutan will bewitch you, capture you in a trance and your soul will be forever imprinted to this Land Of Mountain Gods. Behold these stunning pictures and enjoy the ride.
