The Sky Looks Beautiful Tonight

I have been mesmerized by the enthralling beauty this picture evokes. Head to Bhavya’s blog to be enchanted by some of the incredibly gorgeous clicks. His words weave magic too. This picture is one of the perfect shots and makes me crave to be there. I will also like to extend my thanks to Uncle Phil because it is his book and his insight into the war field that gives me better insight of a soldier’s mind.

I respect soldiers from all countries, but I wish, we never had battles to fight.

The Sky looks beautiful tonight

For times longer than eternity,
I stood.
Unaware of what to do!
This life of mine
Was wayward
And yet I was in peace.

I have been through
The darkest times.
I have seen
Hell come alive.
I have killed a hundred
Who were but fathers of
Beautiful child.
I have seen women
Pierce my heart
As their eyes writhed
With pain
For losing their husband
On the battle field.

A soldier never truly smiles
Though bright, the days
Feel like night.
And in the night
Terror strikes
As the memories unleash
Hot and bright.

This is the place
That feels safe.
Though dark,
The sky looks beautiful tonight.
Silently, my heart hopes
One day I will see
The light.

A homeless war veteran
With no place of own.
I sit at this edge
And steal.
The sight of stars
Lighting the night

No nightmares haunt me here
I feel safe under a sky
Far away from the war cry,
I sleep under the star lit sky.

The sky looks beautiful tonight

They twinkle and drive
Away the dark
A little smile creeps
And they reach my twinkling eyes.

So many years wasted in war
So long, I have stayed far
Finally, I see your silhouette again
Mad with glee, I go insane.

My heart feels a little alive
As the love of my life
Stands beside

Soon together, we will unite
At this very place
I will end my life

The sky looks beautiful tonight
As another soldier
Loses his life

Nature weeps and silently cries
A war veteran alone dies
From dust, we rise
In dust, he dies
Yet, the sky looks beautifully tonight!!!
